The French Energy Regulatory Commission (CRE) has published the report by Schwartz and Co concerning the audit of additional costs incurred between 2024 and 2027 by the implementation of Regulation (EU) 2024/1787 of 13 June 2024 on the reduction of methane emissions in the energy sector, by transmission system operators (NaTran and Teréga), distribution system operators (GRDF), and underground storage operators (Storengy, Teréga, and Géométhane).
This European regulation establishes rules relating to the measurement, quantification, monitoring, reporting, verification, and reduction of methane emissions in the energy sector. It particularly strengthens the obligations for quantifying emissions, detecting and repairing leaks, and restricting venting and flaring.
